The Caldwell Public Library has a long history in the City of Caldwell as a source of informational and recreational reading.  The first library moved about town in a wheelbarrow, but finally found a permanent home in 1914 with the building of a Carnegie library.  The current library was built in 1976 and sits on what were the basketball and tennis courts of the original Caldwell High School.

The library's collection has a strong focus on practical how-to materials, including automobile repair, cooking and gardening.  The library also maintains a collection of local historical photographs. The local newspaper is available on microfilm.  Internet access is available as well as books in Spanish and in large print.  A homebound service is provided.  Regular programming features toddler and preschool story times, marionette shows, summer reading and two adult oriented programs: Topical Tours and Let's Talk About It.
